Slumberlights Products are Made with Layers of High Quality Materials

All Slumberlights start with a double thickness layer of photoluminescent sheet.

Slumberlights rigid materials are made of photoluminescent pigment and high quality reflective white PVC material. After absorbing visible light for 10-30minutes, Slumberlights photochromic material will glow more than 10 hours in darkness.

The glow-in-the-dark sheets are yellowish color in the day, yellow-green color in the night.

Photoluminescence refers to the process in which a substance absorbs photons from an external light source, transitions to an excited state, and then emits light as it returns to its low-energy state.

The plastic of the outer layer of the photoluminescent sheet is made of plastic with a melting point above the boiling point of water at sea level. This makes the material suitable for even hot tea cups. It cannot stand up to open flame though. It will melt and burn if lit by an open flame. Don’t do that.

Underlayers Vary.

Slumberlights ounts the photoluminescent sheets to a variety of materials depending upon use. For regular Glowsters we use thin cork sheets that are sandstone in color and are made of water absorbent 100% natural cork with an adhesive backing.

For the thicker, and more water absorbent Ring Glowsters we use a 1/4” thick cork layer that is generally sourced from Portugal. These extra-fine cork sheets are made with the smallest naturally sourced and renewable pieces of cork available.

We cut and shape these products in Delaware, USA, to create our Glowsters, dog tags, and other items. These are then glued with high quality adhesives. We have test articles that have been in continuous use for over ten years with no sign of delamination.
